Gulf Oil Calculator
I wish I was wrong, the disaster in the gulf has proven to be one of the largest sea based oil spills since 1910. Depending on whose numbers you use the spill has passed the 1979 Gulf of Mexico spill called Ixtoc that resulted in 140 million gallons. The Mexican government owned Pemex rig was in 300 foot waters off the coast of Campeche, Mexco. A top hat was tried without success. The only solution was a relief well and the leak was stopped 10 months later. It is estimated that 140 million gallons of crude were spilled into the water.
